Income Investments
Supplement your income
Income investments can give you that much needed financial boost to your regular income, whether you’re heading for retirement or simply want to top up your salary.
There are a number of different income investment options available to you, popular options include:
- Cash funds- A type of pooled investment fund, usually investing in liquid high quality cash deposits. You may see better rates than you would making an individual investment, and although income generated can both rise and fall the swings should be smaller.
- Bonds- There are a number of different types of bond available including fixed rate bonds, corporate bonds, government bonds or NS&I income bonds. Most bonds tend to be lower risk than investing in stocks and shares but will vary depending on which product you choose.
- Stock and shares investments- This type of investment can pay dividends which act as an income. As with corporate bonds, the success of your investment will depend on the success of the company that you invest in.
Choosing the right option for you can be a complex process and will depend on you own individual circumstances.
Before you make any income investments, you will need to consider how much you are looking to generate on a regular basis and balance this with your attitude to investment risk. It may be a good idea to build up a cash buffer before you start investing so that in the event that your investments do not pay out, you won’t be left short.
